We have many patients that travel to New Hartford from their homes throughout the state of New York for Dr. Wickline’s expertise and innovative surgical techniques. If you have any questions or concerns about making travel arrangements, we are happy to assist.

If you are considering traveling for surgery with Dr. Wickline, you will likely have several questions before you book your procedure and plan your trip. We have put together the below guide, including information about virtual consultations and surgical centers, planning for travel, and suggestions on local lodging, dining, pharmacy, and car rental options. Surgical Centers

Dr. Wickline performs hip and knee replacements at APEX Surgical Center in Westmoreland, NY, as well as St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica, NY. This allows for flexible options for traveling patients, whether they prefer outpatient surgery or require an overnight hospital stay.

COVID-19 Regulations for International Patients

Per the U.S. Embassy & Consulates in Canada, “Effective November 8, 2021, all non-immigrant, non-U.S. citizen air travelers to the United States will be required to be fully vaccinated and to provide proof of vaccination status prior to boarding an airplane to the United States. In addition, fully vaccinated foreign nationals traveling for tourism or other non-essential reasons may enter the United States at land ports of entry (POE) and ferry terminals.”

Planning for Travel

When planning to travel for surgery, we recommend that patients do the following:

• Bring the following items to make traveling home comfortable: pillow, blanket, comfortable clothes, water
• Be sure to bring a Driver’s License, Insurance Cards, and Vaccination Card (If you’ve had the COVID-19 vaccine)

If you are coming from out of town, a SwiftPath booklet will be mailed to you prior to your visit. Please bring this booklet with you to every appointment.
